Mixed Gender Round Robin

1 male + 1 female per side, every match, with rotating partners.

How it works

Every match is 1 male + 1 female vs 1 male + 1 female β€” same-gender pairings never happen. Dink+ rotates partners and opponents to minimize repeat teammates and maximize opponent variety.

Who it’s for

Co-ed groups that want every match to have a balanced male/female pair on each side.

In events, you can also lock a man and a woman as partners β€” say, a mixed pair getting ready for a tournament β€” while everyone else rotates.

Players and courts

  • Quick Robin and events both require at least 4 players to start.
  • Each match needs 2 men and 2 women, so the number of courts that can run is limited by the smaller gender group β€” courts = the smaller of (men Γ· 2) and (women Γ· 2), rounded down.
  • If the male and female counts are unequal, Dink+ fills the smaller group with BYE players β€” that many players from the larger group sit out each round to keep sides balanced.
  • If the smaller group’s count is odd (after balancing), additional players sit out each round too.

Settings

  • Rounds (Quick Robin, 1–10, default 3) or Number of Rounds (events, 1–20, default 8). Rounds beyond (players in the smaller group βˆ’ 1) will repeat some partnerships.
  • In a full event (not Quick Robin), Balance male/female signups automatically keeps sign-ups even as people join, waitlisting the next signup of whichever gender is ahead; turning it off lets you set fixed Male Slots and Female Slots instead.
