Round Robin

Standard 2v2 doubles with rotating partners and no gender constraints.

How it works

Round Robin is the default doubles format: matches are 2 players vs 2 players with no gender constraints. When nobody sits out, Dink+ guarantees no repeat partners for up to (total players βˆ’ 1) rounds. When byes are in play (an uneven player count, or more players than your courts can seat at 4 per court), it can’t make that guarantee β€” it minimizes repeats instead of preventing them. Either way it also spreads out opponents. Anyone not playing that round sits out fairly: whoever has sat out the fewest times so far, and among ties, whoever has gone longest since their last bye.

Who it’s for

General pickup play (any mix of players) where players don’t need to be paired by gender or kept with a fixed partner.

In events, you can also lock two players as partners β€” say, a pair getting ready for a tournament β€” while everyone else rotates.

Players and courts

  • Minimum 4 players. No maximum for Quick Robin; events cap total player slots at 100.
  • No gender rules; any mix plays together.
  • Courts per round are capped at players Γ· 4 (rounded down); if your player count isn’t a multiple of 4, the extra players sit out (bye) that round, rotated fairly round to round.

Settings

  • Rounds (Quick Robin, 1–10, default 3) or Number of Rounds (events, 1–20, default 8). Rounds higher than (players βˆ’ 1) mean some partnerships will have to repeat.
  • Courts β€” how many courts run each round; leave at the maximum to use every court.
